Welcome from Mayor Dale Bunting

As mayor of the Village of Barnesville, I would like to extend a warm welcome to our hometown community. We are honored you have chosen to visit and enjoy all that our village has to offer. Barnesville is located only an hour and a half from Columbus and two hours from Pittsburgh, close enough for us to enjoy all that these urban areas have to offer, yet far enough to maintain a hometown atmosphere. Whether you are a resident, interested in the possibility of doing business here, or a visitor, the information located on this website should help you in answering any questions you might have.

Barnesville is blessed with a beautiful and scenic memorial park that offers a pool, hiking trails, picnic pavilions, and sports facilities. Residents also benefit from vital community resources such as the highly rated Barnesville Hospital, two skilled nursing facilities, and a senior center. We also have an outstanding public school system along with two private schools, furthered by a wonderful public library. The community is served and protected by an excellent Fire Department, Emergency Squad, and Police Department, all of whose employees are not only outstanding but also dedicated.

Barnesville's accessibility to Interstate 70 makes it a great location for operating a business. Our historical downtown is active in retail and professional services while still preserving a hometown feel. The airport continues to undergo improvements to benefit local business. We are working hard on the continued development of our two Industrial Parks with the help from Warren Township, Belmont County Port Authority, and the Belmont County Commissioners.

Visitors will be delighted with the many attractions and interesting sites that Barnesville has to offer. These include the Watt Car and Wheel Museum, Victorian Mansion Museum, B & O Railroad Depot, Veteran's Plaza Overlook, and the Texas Longhorn ranch of Dickinson Cattle Company. What we are perhaps best known for is the annual Barnesville Pumpkin Festival. The festival is always held the last weekend in September and attracts thousands of people every year.

Above all, it is the generous and goodhearted people who are key in making Barnesville what it is, the Jewel of Belmont County.

We hope you enjoy Barnesville. It is an excellent place to live, work, and raise a family!
