Brought to life by the energetic spirit of student volunteers, this essential event plays a crucial role in delivering life-saving blood donations to local medical centers, including Barnesville Hospital. Plus, as a token of gratitude, all students who sign up to donate blood will be entered for a chance to win a Vitalant Scholarship!\n \nEvery year, about 219,000 units of blood and platelets are needed to help patients experiencing women’s health issues, including complications in about 1 of every 83 births. Leading up Mother’s Day, Vitalant highlights this need by thanking donors who give between April 21 to May 23 with a chance to win one of 83, $83 gift cards when they opt-in to the Vitalant Donor Rewards program.\n \nTrish Anderson’s story serves as an important reminder of the influential power of blood donations. Facing a critical situation during the delivery of her fourth child, Trish required an astonishing 52 units of blood for a cesarean hysterectomy. Her journey to recovery was long and arduous, marked by eight additional surgeries and the need for 12 more units of blood.\n \n“Every day, I’m filled with gratitude for the countless individuals who selflessly donated part of themselves to save my life,” Anderson shared. “Thanks to their generosity, I have the precious opportunity to watch my children grow.”\n \nMoved by this life-saving gesture, Trish and her family have since become active advocates for blood donation, organizing blood drives as their way of giving back and spreading the miracle of life.\n \nAlong with the community, Vitalant also cordially invites members of the press to cover the 40th Annual Barnesville Blood Bash.
