Due to a number of complaints regarding golf carts, we would like to remind those operating them within the Village Corporation Limits:
- Drivers of a golf cart must have a valid driver’s license.
- No person less than 16 years of age should operate a golf cart.
- No Person shall operate a golf cart on the street within the Village unless the golf cart has been inspected.
- Do not drink and drive.
- Must obey all traffic laws during operation (No U-Turns).
- No person shall operate a golf cart on any public roadway that is 35 mph or greater, except when crossing such roadway. Crossing means directly from point A to point B.
- Operating a golf cart is prohibited on a State Highway. This includes State Route 800, State Route 147, East Main Street, North Chestnut Street, South Chestnut Street, and Leatherwood. You may cross these directly from point A to point B; you may not ride upon these roadways for any amount of time, except when crossing directly from one side to another (point A to point B).
- Occupants of a golf cart should be seated at all times on the seat and buckled up by a seat belt when in motion. Standing on the golf cart while in motion is prohibited.
- Golf carts are not permitted to be driven on the sidewalk.
- Operation of a golf cart shall be permitted between April 1st through October 31st each year.
