With the potential for significant snowfall this weekend, we would like to remind everyone to please avoid parking on downtown streets whenever possible during the upcoming winter storm. Keeping roadways clear allows snow removal crews to operate safely and efficiently.
Please note that posted signs throughout the downtown area indicate no parking when snowfall exceeds 3 inches. We ask for your cooperation and patience as street crews work continuously—often around the clock—to keep roads passable. During storms of this magnitude, heavy snowfall and snow squalls can cause road conditions to change rapidly, despite crews’ best efforts.
During severe winter storms such as the one forecasted, residents are strongly encouraged to travel only if necessary. Limiting travel helps reduce accidents, allows plow crews to do their jobs more effectively, and keeps emergency routes open.
Residents and motorists are reminded to leave adequate space for plows to operate and to use extra caution when traveling during and after the storm.
Additionally, if you live near a fire hydrant, please help by clearing at least three feet on all sides of the hydrant and a clear path from the hydrant to the roadway. This ensures firefighters have immediate access in the event of an emergency.
Your cooperation plays a vital role in public safety during winter weather events. Thank you for your understanding and assistance as we work together to keep our community safe.
